Chiefs’ Dorsey gets chance to see Packers again

“He obviously came in after seven installs had been put in already. So, he was behind, but he’s been picking it up and showing improvements.” Young’s first of two series against the Seahawks entailed 11 plays covering 80 yards, culminating with a 1-yard touchdown toss to rookie fullback Jonathan Amosa. Despite the layoff of nearly a full year, Young exhibited some of the instinctive decision-making and elusive footwork from his prime with the Tennessee Titans. His big drive included runs of 21 and 18 yards sandwiched around a 16-yard completion to tight end Andrew Quarless. “I feel like Jermichael Finley got me in touch with a great masseuse out here, so she did a great job (with the legs),” said a smiling Young, crediting the Packers’ top tight end, a former college teammate at Texas. Young, who gave way to Coleman in the fourth quarter, led Green Bay’s quartet of quarterbacks Friday with a 130.7 passer rating. He completed six of seven passes for 41 yards and added three carries for 39 yards. “I haven’t personally played a whole lot with him in these games, but he can make plays when things break down,” starting right guard T.J. Lang said. “You saw (Friday), he made some big plays with his feet.

(AP) – Everything that John Dorsey has done to mold the Kansas City Chiefs since becoming their general manager in January has been influenced by a career spent with the Green Bay Packers. He’ll get a chance to catch up with old friends Thursday night. Dorsey played for the Packers in the 1980s before rising up the scouting ranks, eventually becoming director of football operations. He was hired as the Chiefs’ GM in January. Now, Dorsey will be using a preseason game against the Packers to make some final roster evaluations ahead of Saturday’s deadline to reach the 53-player limit. The Packers likewise have several jobs still up for grabs ahead of their regular-season opener. More NFL

Packers practice report: Crosby shines

On Tuesday, Crosby drilled all 14 of his field goals, half of which were into a strong wind. Meanwhile, Ramirez, who was signed on Sunday, failed to back up his 10-for-11 performance from practice two days earlier. Ramirez made only 6-of-16 field goals. He got two more attempts thanks Crosby in the second of the two kicking periods because special teams coach Shawn Slocum wanted him to finish on a make. But he couldnt do it, missing three straight to finish the period.

Rookies Eddie Lacy, Montee Ball could start Week 1 for Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos

…Not sure on opener. The norm in this situations. Tyler Dunne (@TyDunne) August 26, 2013 Meanwhile, in Denver, Montee Ball is working with the first team in practice with Ronnie Hillman seemingly fumbling away his chance at starting. Both Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and Broncos head coach John Fox are notorious for warning the media not to read too much into those situations. But it has become clear that the two rookies, at worst, will be heavily leaned on in the early parts of the season.
